I'M DONE!!! :o)

Breakfast -- no breakfast.... No eating until weigh in... ha ha

- ENDING WEIGHT 270.0 lbs


Well... I did it, and with minimal faulters...

I was all excited thinking about what I was going to eat and I had such grand plans for after weigh in..... I ended up swinging through McDonalds and grabbing a grilled snack wrap and a power aid...... HOW NON EXCITING!!! But I wanted to get something small and quick so I could get home, get this in ... and now I'm going to the gym to swim my laps.

What... you thought cause it was over that I'm done!! ha ha... no way...

My new goal is to keep up the progress I've made, continue working out every day and eat healthier, eat more often, but less food... Let's see if I can actually get down to 250.... or less...

Good day today, Got up, got off shift and had breakfast on the way home. Stopped by the Union Hall and picked up some stuff. Then finally made it home.

Got to spend my "birthday day" with Ian and Brianna and Brianna's mom (Tina) today. On my way to pick them up I had lunch. Then went to the Zoo. I haven't been there in a couple years, since last time I went with Ian. He's so awesome... I need to get me one of those. ha ha. Just so you know... the Zoo closes at 5:00 during the week. I find that out when your are wandering around and don't see anyone... the animals have gone away for the most part... and you get to the front gate and everything is locked... well, almost everything.. ha ha.. We ended up being there until about 6:00pm.... oops

Went to dinner with them. We went to Uptown Plaza and went to BRAVO! . It was really good. But I want to go back when I can actually eat something... I did have the Lobster Bisque. It was really good.

After that I came home, was going to go to the gym but dozed off. Woke up and was still going to go swim but there was thunder. I called and the pool was closed. So, I just went and jumped on the Eliptical for an hour.

That was it. Gotta crash ... working tomorrow so that I can be off on Friday to weigh out!!

It's my Birthday!!!!! ugh.. I'm 40...

So I got home (remember I did a 2 hour workout and didn't get to bed until 4:30) and checked a couple things on the computer and fell asleep for about 30-45 min. When I woke up, I freaked out a bit because if I didn't get to the gym and get my workout in I wouldn't be able to workout today.

I got to the gym and swam a 2000 in the outdoor pool. Ever been swimming and feel like you're swimming up hill? Or for those of you who worked at the Beach (or any waterpark) it felt like I was swimming against the lazy river current... ugh. BUT, I got done! and only received a mild sunburn.

Got home, changed and went to the German American Club for a meeting. Horrible.
Came home, and just hung out with my friends/neighbors and other friends to celebrate my Birthday.

Ok, long day!! Worked at the station... VERY SLOW, we didn't have our first call until 5:30pm... that's pretty rare. I COULD have worked out at any point during the early part of the day and not been effected... BUT NO! I normally do a 1 hour workout on the treadmill when I am at work. I did try to get an early start (11:00pm) but 14 min into the workout we got a call. We came back... I started again. 14 minutes into the workout... we got another call. This is where it got interesting.

My driver checked the address on the map and it showed right off sunset. We got in the truck and the "mapping program" showed it in another section of the road not attached to the one that connects to Sunset. We go enroute and my driver and I have a discussion and I told them... "look, I get what the map says, but the south valley is screwed up when it comes to numbering and lets just go where the computer says." there was a little debate, I gave "the look" and we went where the computer said it was supposed to be.

We got there and the address we were looking for wasn't around. I told my driver let's go check the area the map said it was supposed to be. Go figure... it was there.

After the call we were talking and I apologized for taking us to the wrong area and said since I made a the mistake, I would do another hour on the treadmill. My intent was, an hour including what I had already done. HOWEVER, my crew was like, "your going to do a total of 2 hours?" I said.. "ugh... that's not what I meant, but sure, I'll do 2 hours."

So we got back, I did my normal full hour + cooldown then I worked my math and figured that I owed another 22 minutes. I completed that 22 minutes and realized that I did my math wrong and I still owed 10 minutes... ugh!!! So... I did the other 10 minutes. 2 hours complete.... and it was only 3:30am now (remember I started @ 11:00). I was up another hour and then I went to bed about 4:30...

I got up at 7:30 and got moving. Not long after that... I started the 7-26 breakfast!

Great day today... for the most part. Got some things done around the house, ran a couple errands, and is irritated with the County..

So I usually help out with verifying longevity and seniority and stuff for the Department and for HR. Well they are playing games in HR (amongst themselves) and the NEW people that are handling the stuff I work with just can't get the concept that Fire works 1 day and is off 2 days. They have sent me emails and set meetings on my first day off and plan stuff for my second day off, and then wonder why I don't respond or attend. HELLO!!! I DON'T GET MY EMAILS WHEN I'M NOT WORKING!! So ... I ended up working for like 3 hours today on Longevity... for free... grrrr

Other than that... it was a good day.

Well, after last night I was pretty wrecked, so when I got home I ended up falling asleep. For about 8 hours.... guess I needed it. When I got up I ate lunch and was going to go to the gym and swim but we got a thunderstorm so I decided not to go. After working for Sports & Wellness I know that the pools are not grounded and even the indoor pools shouldn't be swam in when there's a storm... Sooo.... Naturally I procrastinated. Finally got to the gym about 11:00pm and worked out. Good workout though, kept my heartrate in the cardio zone for 61 minutes. I keep telling myself I want to do a workout and keep my heartrate in the "weight loss zone" but that is so freaking slow... and I'm sure the science behind it says that it's better for you and you'll still burn the calories, but I have a hard enough time hitting the 1000 calorie mark doing what I do let alone going slower.. .humm

Oh well...

Worked Medbow today, out at the race track all day. Did pretty good, started getting hungry at the end... then couldn't eat because I needed to go to the gym as soon as I got home, and then had to run a couple errands after that. Met a friend and grabbed a Blizzard then came home and started laundry and stuff.

Today was actually a pretty hard day. On my way home and after the gym I thought that was it... I was going to EAT something.. but I managed to hold off. Chugged some water and drank a coke.. filled that space if nothing else..

Only 11 more days, maybe it'll start getting easier??? ha ha..

Today was pretty good. Still craving to eat something. I'm not all that hungry, and when I am I'm able to drink that away. However, had some sever moments of weakness today... but I overcame them all!

There was a BBQ at Headquarters for Theresa's retirement... man those burgers smelled good. Glad I had my Keva Juice in hand... Glad I thought about that ahead of time...

Then, I was at the store and thought... ya know... just one tortilla won't kill me... but then I picked up the pack and thought... there's at least 10 here... they'll be in the house... ugh... put them back..... so I did.

Then tonight at the house.. I started rumaging... and thought.. tuna salad is pretty healthy... ha ha... decided to have yogurt and strawberries blended instead..

Again, it's really not that I'm hungry, I'm getting full from the drinks. I'm just bored with drinks and want to bite something!!! ha ha... well, only 13 more days. I can do it!!

Upgraded to Commander today so I was just driving around most of the day. Stopped by Station and ate lunch then went out and about againg running errands, visiting stations and going on a couple calls. Got back to station 2 and worked out and crashed for the night... well... I will crash eventually.. :o)

Good day all in all. When I stopped by Station 8 Jay had shredded BBQ chicken. WOW that smelled soooooo good. That was the hardest thing to be around. That and Pizza... the guy here at 2 had pizza. Luckily they ate before I got here. That's one thing I'm definitely craving. But, it's no big deal.. I know I can make it to the end.

Talked to Zak today. He's doing better. Said he lost some weight while he was in the hospital and was going to try to get back into the program if the doc says it's ok. Good to hear his voice. Especially since I've been slacking and haven't called him. I've not been great at that lately.

Thanks again to everyone for their support. It's a great cause, it's helping them and it's helping me. I'm feeling better than I have in a while and I'm losing weight... it's a win win situation!!

Feeling pretty good overall. Clothes are fitting better, my cardio is going good, and it's easier to pass up food after 12 days.... Don't get me wrong, I really want to eat something... if nothing else, to have the sensation of actually biting through something ... ha ha.. but all in all it's not that bad. Just wish I could lose the weight faster...

It's really making the month go fast, which sucks because it's summer.. it needs to be as long as possible!!

Went to the Murtaghs and watched the fights... man those burgers smelled good... ha ha.. only 18 more days :o) gotta stay strong!!

So I usually wait till the evening to workout at the station, but we got busy. So I didn't get a chance to get on the treadmill until about 1:00am.... naturally, after 27 minutes into my workout (and 585 calories) the tones go off... Person attacked by a dog, possible pit bull.... get changed and go to the call... Not a pit bull... person was nipped at by a chihuahua.... ARE YOU SERIOUS!!! PEOPLE, COME ON!!! You're gonna know if it was a PIT BULL or a CHIHUAHUA.

So when we got back to the station, I jumped back on for another 39 minutes and finished it out. Ended up doing a total of 66 minutes + cool down...

Dinner -- Vanilla Low fat yogert, 2% milk, mixed fruit (strawberries, mango, pineapple) and Protein supplement.


Another good day, except it's hard to remember where a Keva Juice is located when you're running errands and working. Better preplanning.

Workout was good once I finally got to the gym. Kept a good cardio heart rate for an hour. Stayed in the zone.

Not too much going on other than work at the Union Hall today.

I actually haven't felt weak until a little today. But I may just be tired, I didn't sleep very well at the station. All in all I feel pretty good. May not be drinking enough water though either. Just finished 40 oz of Water and feel better.

So after the gym I went to the movies with my friend Monika. Got there and wasn't feeling great. Still a bit wobbly from earlier. I decided maybe I needed a few more calories... and possible some sugar... ha ha. So I had a "LARGE" shake at the theater... which was about 10 ounces... ugh. and a Diet Coke... probably not the greatest thing... but I felt better afterwards. The movie was good to... go see the PROPOSAL

When I got home, I didn't feel like eating anything and then when I did it was too late... so ... I went to bed...

Second night that I got my workout done early... not as early, but being done by 12:30am is GREAT.

On Shift trade at Station 11 today, blended stuff last night to bring to work for today. I'll have my stuff at my station tomorrow. Still pretty tough at times. Burgers, chips, food everywhere at the station.. ugh

Forgot that during racquetball last night out of no where I got hit with... hummmm I want Greek food!! Then, we played some more and I was like, no.... maybe nachos!!! ha ha..

Only 24 more days :o) Gotta keep working at it.

Good news is I got 3 sponsors today!!! I really appreciate it!! I need more though so if your reading this and haven't sponsored anyone or know of someone to pass this on to it would be greatly appreciated.

Other good news.... I'm at the station, and I'm already done working out, and it's only 10:56. I don't even usually start till Midnight or later at station 2. ha ha

Good day, got off shift and had my morning shake. Home for a little and then went to the Condo Pool to hang out. Took lunch with me... :o) Naturally my buddy Scott and Tim Cox were grillin out... grrrrr ... but I survived. Hung out there for a while and saw some good friends. Got ready to leave and go to the gym to swim but Gila talked me out of it and into going a playing racquetball instead.

Racquetball was fun. Gila worked me pretty good but I took her 4 games... although the score was in my favor, she pretty much kicked my butt. Played 2 games of doubles after that but not as good workout.

Dinner was good, hung out and watched a movie. Prepped drinks for my shift at Station 11 tomorrow.

First shift with the new crew, they wanted to go out for breakfast so I sat and watched them all eat Huevos Rancheros… ugh… I had a Diet Coke and a water….

Then, since it’s 4th of July… we had a BBQ at the station and family and friends came over…

Ok… so we had to try something bizarre today. The Grilled Baked beans smelled too good to not do something about. Mark came by (also on the program) and we decided that we were just going to have to try the beans. So … we threw them in the blender and heated them up and had basically “bean soup”. It wasn’t bad, quite filling, but probably only in the program to the extent that it was liquid enough to go through a straw…. But … that counts right? Ha ha…

Other than that, today has been pretty good. Not overly hungry. It seems to be getting easier…

So this morning was pretty tough, actually... all night was tough because we were up pretty much all night, ugh... Once I got home though it got easier because I fell asleep.... got up and met Monika at SAMs Club and bought a ton more Juice and some veggies... I've discovered that I'm a pretty lazy juicer... I can blend like crazy... but Juicing itself takes a lot of effort... I'll get it down though. I got some carrots, celery, and some spinich to try to juice so we'll see how that goes.

Work out tonight was GREAT. Swam 3 timed 500 yard swims, all were under 10 minutes. I can pass my Headlifeguard test again... ha ha.. the rest was tool work (kickboard, paddles, bouy, and warm up and cool down.) 2300yards total (1 mile = 1760yards so I did 1.30 miles).

Tomorrow is going to be a little bit of a drag. First day with the new crew and we are having a BBQ for 4th of July..... maybe I'll have Spicy V8 instead.... ha ha...

Lunch… 20 oz mixed berry smoothie with protein powder

Dinner… Cran,Rasberry,grapefruit juice, & a Cup of chicken broth.

Desert – Pineapple/Orange/Grapefruit Banana Smoothie (no fat pineapple sherbert & orange
juice, grapefruit juice, a splash of lemon, and 1.5 bananas)

Workout – Treadmill 1 hr + cool down, 1206 calories, 4.57 miles

(throughout day -- 1 gallon of water)

Today was definitely tougher. Food looks good. ha ha. Need to find something a little more substantial. Maybe some vegetable juice blends Vs. fruit juice blends only. I'm off work on Friday (3rd) so I'll go find some new ideas for the week. Need to start planning for the fishing trip which runs from Thursday - Sunday....

Workout tonight went well tonight.

Day 2 done... time to go to bed... it's only 2:28am :)

Dinner… cup of Lipton chicken soup broth

Workout – Treadmill 1 hr + cool down (1070 calories, 4.5 miles)

Desert – Pineapple-Orange smoothie (no fat pineapple sherbert & orange juice)

(other .... 1 Gatorade G2, 1 12oz Pepsi, gallon of water)

Working at the station. Not a bad day, wasn't even really that hard.... but I've forgotten to eat before for a day because I've been so busy.

July Juice Month - What it's all about.....

Hello and welcome to anyone who will read this.

This month, July 2009, I will be going on an "ALL LIQUID" diet.

Last year, one of my fellow firefighters (and wife) lost thier 6 wk old son. When it was all said and done, it was found that he died of Bacterial Meningitis. So this year, Zak wanted to do something as a memorial and to help raise money to go to the Meningitis Foundation of America. Their goal is to support sufferers of meningitis and their families, To educate the public and medical professionals about meningitis so that its early diagnosis and treatment will save lives, and to support the development of vaccines and other methods of preventing meningitis.

Anyway, he was looking for support and for others that would be willing to take the challenge with him and I volunteered.


On June 30th I weighed in and I'm back up to where I was once upon a time at 295.6 lbs. My goal is to lose 45.6 lbs in a month. It's pretty steep, but I'll give it a shot.
